Euro 2024 Qualifying

Euro 2024 Qualifiers: How They Work and Who Qualifies

Overview

The European Qualifiers for UEFA EURO 2024 determine the 23 teams that will join host nation Germany at the tournament finals in June and July 2024. The qualifying process consists of three stages: a group stage, play-offs, and a draw.

Group Stage

The 53 UEFA nations are divided into 10 groups of five or six teams. Each team plays every other team in its group home and away, with the top two teams in each group automatically qualifying for Euro 2024. The third-placed teams will advance to the play-offs, while the remaining teams will be eliminated.

Play-Offs

The 10 third-placed teams will be divided into three paths of four teams. Each path will play a single-elimination tournament, with the winners of each path qualifying for Euro 2024.

Draw

The 24 qualified teams will be drawn into six groups of four teams. The draw will be held in December 2023, and the teams will be seeded based on their FIFA World Ranking.

Who Qualifies

A total of 23 teams will qualify for Euro 2024: the top two teams from each of the 10 qualifying groups, the three winners of the play-offs, and host nation Germany.

Euro 2024 Qualifying Dates

The group stage will take place from March to November 2023, with the play-offs taking place in March 2024. The draw for the group stage will be held on October 9, 2022.
