2004 Toyota Tundra Airbag Light

Resetting the Airbag Light on Your Toyota Tundra

Understanding the Airbag Light

The airbag light on your Toyota Tundra is an indicator that the airbag system has detected a fault. When the light is on, the airbags will not deploy in the event of a crash, which can pose a safety risk. It's therefore crucial to address the issue promptly.

Common Causes of the Airbag Light

* Failed airbag control module * Faulty wiring harness * Corrosion in electrical connections

Resetting the Airbag Light

Depending on the model year of your Toyota Tundra, there are two main ways to reset the airbag light:

Method 1: For Tundras with Ignition Switch (Pre-2010 Models)

1. Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position (without starting the engine). 2. Locate the airbag reset button, typically found under the dashboard or in the glove compartment. 3. Press and hold the reset button for 10-15 seconds. 4. Turn the ignition switch to the "Off" position. 5. Start the engine and check if the airbag light is off.

Method 2: For Tundras with Push-Button Start (2010+)

1. Sit in the driver's seat and buckle up. 2. Press the brake pedal and hold it down. 3. Press and hold the "Engine Start/Stop" button for 10-15 seconds. 4. Release the brake pedal and start the engine. 5. Check if the airbag light is off.

Important Notes

* If the airbag light does not turn off after following the above steps, there may be a more serious issue that requires professional diagnosis and repair. * It's highly recommended to have a qualified technician inspect the airbag system if the light persists. * Always ensure that the airbag system is functioning properly to protect yourself and your passengers in the event of an accident.
